Foxcroft Academy Sports Update – 9/13/16

It has been a busy start to the school year. All of our athletic teams have been in action for over two weeks now. Here is an update on what is happening with Pony Sports:

So far, it’s been a tough start for the FA Football team. The Ponies lost Week 1 at MDI 28-20 and dropped their home opener 32-7 to Madison. This week, Foxcroft plays their lone Saturday afternoon game at Waterville followed by a trip to Old Town for their Homecoming. This weekends game at Waterville is a 1pm kickoff.

Field Hockey

It’s been a great start to the season. The Ponies are over a third of the way through their schedule and to date, no losses.   FA is 5-0 coming off a convincing 5-0 win over Hermon on Monday night. Two more games await the Ponies this week as they are at home vs. Stearns on Wednesday and on the road Friday at Mattanawcook.

Girls Soccer

Coach Chris Wesley and his players are off to a really good start to the tune of 2-1. The Ponies opened up the season with a tough loss at Presque Isle, but since then, they’ve posted wins over Ellsworth and MDI. Tonight, Dexter is in town for a date with the Ponies. Next up, two road games at PCHS on Thursday and at Caribou on Saturday.

Boys Soccer

It’s been a good start for the Ponies Boys Soccer team. Lead by Coach Luis Ayala, Foxcroft is 2-2 in a very tough Class B. FA won in Presque Isle and they picked up a home win over Dexter 7-0 on Monday night. The schedule does not get easier as the Ponies play at PCHS on Wednesday and in Caribou on Saturday.

Cross Country

After a 7-year break, Coach George Rolleston is back at the helm with a young group on the CC team. The Ponies have had meets in Ellsworth and Caribou and are getting ready for their only home meet of the year on Friday. The Ponies will welcome Bangor Christian, Central, Hermon, John Bapst, Lee, and Greenville to town. The meet starts at 4:00pm.

This is our sport with the shortest season as they began regular season play before school even started. The Ponies have had some good matches with Old Town, Dexter, MDI, Ellsworth, Greenville, and Hermon, just to name a few. Their final home match is Monday, 9/19 as Hermon plays at Foxcroft Golf Club. The season wraps up in late September with the PVC match and the state tournament is the following week.

Don’t forget, our Homecoming is the week of September 26th. Most of our teams have home games that week. In addition to the football game on Friday, 9/30, we will also have our 6th annual Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony before the game. There are busy times ahead on campus. As always, ride on Ponies.
